Fresh New Look

 About five years ago I remodeled our front bathroom.  It was bright and yellow, blue, floral and rubber ducks.  It lost it's appeal really quick.  Much more fun for the kids with the bright colors and all but it was not a tranquil room by any means. 

    This week I repainted and repurposed until I have a guest worthy bathroom again. I actually like using that bathroom now!

 

  
  

C'est Finit!

YAY!!!  THe room is pretty much DONE.  Other than a few adjustments with the lights and the outdoor lights we are finished.  We are already enjoying the room AND the extra space so much.

Carpet!!!

YEsterday our carpet went in and we have started loading furniture into the room!  It's a big task!!  THe kids ran around like maniacs running their toes through the plushie carpet and then talked me and Mike into playing duck,duck,goose.
I will post pics WITH furniture when we get it all in place until then here are some pics of the kids in teh carpet.

And here is a funny coincidence,  Ginny and Grammy were wearing the same color as the room the day it was painted.  We seriously did not plan that, in fact Grammy had not even seen the paint yet.

Construction update

Well, we are finally getting down to the end of it all.  I am attaching some photos of the insulation work and today we got drywall!  I have chosen several paint colors for them to paint sample patches on the wall and tomorrow I select the carpet.  Mike and I spent all day yesterday assembling more furniture and we only have 3 more pieces to go.  I can't wait until it's all in and set up.  It is going to be such a blessing for our family to have a nice space where we can all be together.

On baby news, one more week until my u/s.  I had a very vivid dream that we went to a u/s and it was a definite girl.  Funny thing was the doctor did not show up adn I was lying there so Mike did the u/s for me. LOL  Dreams are weird.

Addition Update

The windows and doors for the new room should be in next week.  I say should because you just never know with windows and doors.  They were supposed to be in this week.  Yesterday the Drywall arrived and all the insulation etc...  Bruce installed the rough out for the electrical and all the light cans and ceiling fan mounts so now we can really see where everything is going to be located.  It's hard to tell on the blueprints!  We also should have stucco on the outside as soon as the windows get put in. We went to IKEA yesterday and Mike chose his desk which I really liked because it is simple and smaller than the one he originally wanted.  He wanted a big corner computer unit at first but it just was not practical for a man with a laptop. LOL So he chose this one instead.   The center folds down to sit the laptop on.  He also chose this chair and being the nice woman that I am (and since he let me choose ALL the other furniture) I let him get it. :)
I bought this bookcase to go in my foyer and the large bookcase that is there now will get moved to the office for the Children's library.  I only want to put my scrapbook albums on the bookcase in the foyer and a few framed photographs.
And we had to buy something fun for the kids so I bought a mousepad for the kids computer, some bowls for Ginny and some dragon placemats.  The placemats were on sale for 1.99!

Now since the room is going to also be our school room/education area I ordered a nice circular table for the kids to do schoolwork at and six chairs.

For MY furniture I went to Office Depot (Sorry Carol but Staples did not have what I wanted!LOL).  I ordered the furniture on Wednesday night and half of it came on Thursday afternoon!  It must have been in stock at our local OD.
I got this table and hutch to store my scrapbook supplies.  The hutch has not arrived yet but I put the lower part together last night and it looks awesome!  The baskets I got at IKEA fit perfectly.  I will include a photo of that. I laso got the two Lateral File Cabinets that I ordered yesterday.  They look yellowish in the picture but they are a distressed cream color.  Now I am awaiting my computer credenza and the other hutch and it will all be here and I can get to work putting it all together.

Now the LAST piece of furniture I have to buy for the room is my cabinet to keep school supplies in order and locked away from curious kiddos.

That is about it for the update.  The room should be done in about 2 1/2 weeks as long as those windows and french doors come in!

Day 2 of framing

This is ONLY day 2 and the framing is pretty much DONE!  They had about 7-8 guys working on it today and they work hard!  Here are some pics of what they did today.  Bear in mind that on Thursday morning it was a bare slab of concrete.

Three walls!

I went to the movies and to run errands today and when I got back the cement slab had turned into cement slab and three framed walls!  I will try and get pics up tomorrow.  Now I can really see where the windows and french doors will be!

Pics, before and Demo day one

Here are my before pics and the pics after only ONE day of demolition.  And no matter what Ste says, demo is NOT fun and I am glad I hired someone to do it!

Room glorious room

We have finally signed the contract for the building of our addition.  Permits will be issued soon and the demolition of the existing patio begins on Monday!  We spent today cleaning everything out of the patio and taking down all the old lanterns and farm tools that used to decorate it. The demolition is supposed to take about 2-3 days.  Hard to believe they can get it down and hammer out the slab in that little amount of time!  I think we will be scarce on Tuesday when they do the jackhammering!
The office is going to be so nice, we have selected the furniture we like and now I am just on hold until the room is done and I can double check the measurements of everything to make sure it will fit.
The contractor says he does not think it will take more than 2 month to finish so we hope there are no hold-ups and it gets done quickly.  And we also PRAY that they will find no exsisting termite damage in any of the walls!
I will take some before/after pictures and post them as we go along.
