It's hard to believe but it's been almost 6 months since our Gabby was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It is such a part of our life now that it's hard to remember what life was like without it always lingering over us.
It's hard to believe that it's now been 6 months since Gabby got her life back. We call the time when she was most sick as the time when "Her light went out.". It's hard to explain it to people but it's like her eyes were dead. There was just nothing behind it, no light.
The worst time in her sickness was when this photo was taken. It's easy to see how sick she is at just 39 pounds at 8 years old. The even sadder part is that it was taken at Disneyland. I am sure I have blogged it before at some point.
My point in writing all this is that you don't realize something is missing until it comes back sometimes. After 6 months of insulin treatment -actually, amazingly after 1 day of insulin treatment- the light is back and I see it in every photo I take. Today I took this photo and it just made my heart smile.
No more dead eyes, welcome back bright eyes!
I think the difference is quite clear. The second photo brings tears of happiness for you all.
And how sweet that the second photo is with her sisters.

Oh Lisa... this just made me cry. I am sooo sad that she went through this while at the same time being sooo happy that her light is back.

They say a picture speaks a 1000 words. These 2 say it all.
Praise God...you were so vigilant and found out what was wrong.
Love seeing the lights in her eyes too!

I am so happy you have found the light.
As you know I know this situation in my soul as well. Hard for us to see those times.
