Ginny has now had two games with her Mini Sox team. She has a great coach, such an improvement from last year. As I watched her play during her gamed this year I found myself smiling a lot at how much she has changed. The difference? This year she is playing the game. Really thinking while she is out there, down in her little 'softball ready' stance. She is getting hits off the pitch constantly, stopping the ball and her throwing is good. Last year she was so sick with the reflux she missed a lot and her coach really didn't teach anything. This year she is focused and having so much fun. She loves her team.
Last night we played against a team that had a lot of the kids who here in her team last year on it. One of the dads came up to me and said, "Wow! Your daughter has improved so much! She was so good out there I was thinking, "Is that the same kid?" I am so proud of her and most of all glad she is having so much fun.
Gabby's team had their first game last night and took a pretty big loss. Gabby did get on base and made it to third when a lot of girls struck out so that was nice for her but she also wasn't played until the end of the game so she only got to bat once.
Softball is really conflicting with theater a lot more than I thought it would. Its been hard to say the least. Yesterday was a logistical nightmare. We ended up at the ballpark from 5pm-9pm and it was freezing at 42 degreed with windchill. We have had some serious talks about next year and I think we will not be doing softball. I will miss some aspects of it but we can only choose to do what we love most or die trying to do it all.
